We have been making videos since 2005; some are Raymond & I playing music together, some are of his artwork, his log home building project, drums he's built. Eighteen of them are the result of being a part of an arts & crafts community in Mountain View, Arkansas, and the Off the Beaten Path Studio Tour.
Our most recent effort was with Tom Hargis, songwriter who is a neighbor of ours. We helped record his project, including adding piano by Sue, guitar, bass and dobro by Raymond, producing the CD called A Different Kind of Breed. The video is one song that rocks: Nothin' You Can Do.
Sept 18-20, 2009 22 private artisan's studios were open to the public to see demonstrations and purchase their latest works, all within 30 miles of Mountain View, Arkansas. Visit the studiotour website for details of next year's tour, Sept. 17, 18 & 19, 2010, and learn about each artist participating.
18 separate videos concentrated on each artist and may be seen at my channel. In March, 2009, the Off the Beaten Path Studio Tour won the prestigious Henry Award for Community Tourism, awarded annually at the Arkansas Governor's Conference on Tourism in recognition of "an individual or organization which has achieved substantial success in the enhancement of its local resources through imaginative and innovative development efforts."
April 4, 2009 Grand Re-Opening of the member owned cooperative retail Gallery in Mountain View, AR and the work of the finest artisans in Arkansas. This is where my soaps, bath salts and insect repellants may be purchased in Mtn. View. That's Danny B0y from A Legacy of Herbs playing in the background. Thanks for looking.
This drum has a walnut , cherry and white ash top, spruce sides, and a birch plywood slap face. That's Raymond Creasy playing it, since he made it just a few weeks ago. It's finished with a clear spray and has rubber feet to keep it off the floor and make it more resonant. It's easy to carry, just grab it by the port (the hole), weighing about 17#. Deeper sounds are found in the middle of the slap face, so it's more like djembe sounds. It looks great in any room of the house, functions like a table or a seat.
Raymond sells these - and has 4 on hand now.
Raymond got a Sony HandyCam and I got a G5 MAC in 2005. We use iMovie and the firewire to capture the DV format footage, where we edit and add transitions, titles, and music. For our longer projects we export to iDVD, in a QuickTime format. For youtube, while still in iMovie, I use the "expert settings" in the "share" tab, so I can select what quality and viewer size to save in. I usually choose mp4 format for the compressed versions.
We have also used our PC to make a family movie celebrating an anniversary . The software came with our DVD burner, an ArcSoft program called Show Biz. In that DVD, we also included 2 slideshows. Slideshows may be included on the MAC's iDVD too. Microsoft's Movie Maker can also be used effectively. We found out the firewire is mandatory, plus lots of RAM on your computer.
Go to Online Store for purchasing.
Our first video is Raymond's art show, and it opens our channel when you go there. Brad Bergdoll, Raymond's step-son, shot the footage and used creative effects on the camera, which make this an art film. Great music, great art in Clinton, Arkansas.
