Birdwoman Meditation- A native American flute made by Raymond Creasy is the instrument Sue plays in this 10 min. improvisational piece with bird songs in the background. Recorded in 1998, this is intended to provide relaxing, meditational music for those who are trying to quit smoking and want a mental distraction that takes one outside the tensions of life.
- Johnny's Gone For a Soldier
This is an Americanized version of a celtic song. I learned this in college during the Vietnam war. It's still relevant. To me, it's a lullabye about an absent father and the sacrifices at home. A Legacy of Herbs was our first album together in 1995; I'm playing mandolin, dulcimer, guitar, and singing harmonies with myself. Raymond added guitar, harmonica, banjo, bouzouki, dobro, and bass.
- Wild Mountain Thyme
We fell in love to this song. Raymond had recently purchased his Irish bouzouki; together with my mandolin, we celebrated our new sound. Just a sample.
- English Country Garden
- A 3 verse listing of the great life forms found in gardens, accompanied by Raymond's banjo and my mandolin. Just a sample.
- Simple Gifts
- A Shaker tune accompanied with the mountain dulcimer - a short sample.
- Scarborough Fair
- The essential song about herbs! Plus advice on how to keep a "true love." That's the Irish bouzouki that Raymond is playing. Just a short sample.
- The Ash Grove
- There's a theme to this album - songs about plants. I grew up around green ash trees. Just a short sample.
- She's More to be Pitied Than Scolded
- Tongue in cheek version says "oh how those musicians can lie." I learned this from an all female band called Rosie's Bar & Grill. I smile when I hear Raymond's dobro. Just a sample.
- Danny Boy
- All instrumental version. I'm playing dulcimer and mandolin and Raymond's playing guitar and bass. Just a sample.
- Hewlett
- One of our favorite Irish tunes with mandolin, bouzouki, and keyboard with penny whistle. Just a sample.
- Monday Morning
- I sing about the eagerness of youth for the idea of getting married, and an older person's warnings against it. Just a sample.
- Star of the County Down
- Raymond sings about a beauty seen at a county fair, but later in the song when we speed it up; I play a wooden flute he made. A classic Irish song, short sample.
- Red Haired Boy
- Raymond learned this tune at a very early age, due to his own red hair. He plays guitar, I play mandolin and keyboard, and my daughter Allison plays penny whistle.
- Cattle in the Cane
- Raymond's guitar picking shines on this one, accompanied by bouzouki. A short sample.
- Stupid Romance
- Our intention was to showcase the flutes in a variety of styles on this album. I'm calling this song Latin-jazz due to the beat. I'm playing keyboard, Raymond's playing his own wooden flute. A short sample.
- Jamaica
- Another Latin-jazz beat in this short sample. I'm playing mandolin and a wooden flute made by Raymond, Raymond's playing dobro and guitar.
- Water Spirits
- Raymond's playing 2 flutes he made due to the magic of over-dubbing. Underneath is some keyboard and locally captured rushing water sounds. A short sample.
- Cry of Wolves
- Raymond again plays both flute tracks in his distinctive style, accompanied by his guitar and my keyboard. A short sample.

When Birdwoman was recorded, Raymond and I were wanting to start on a flute album. I recorded this first, then as Raymond got involved, our approach changed somewhat and we ended up with instrumentals featuring flute, but in a variety of styles - from native American solo, to celtic, to jazzy. The album was called Shamrock Sampler. Shamrock Studio is our own studio, and how we've been recording music practically since we met in 1995.
This long version of Birdwoman was cut to under 3 min. in Shamrock Sampler, so I decided to use it with my Quit Smoking Kit, as a tool for meditation. In the past, I put it on a cassette tape, but that technology is almost obsolete.
